SO makes arrest in string of recent thefts
A Prentiss, Miss. man is in custody in connection with a string of burglaries and larcenies in Tunica County.
In a press release issued on Oct. 9, Sheriff K.C. Hamp announced the arrest of Albert Ross, 46, as part of “Operation Sticky Fingers.”
County recreation centers to host job Access Points
JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) and the Tunica County Board of Supervisors, announced today a partnership that will increase access to job search services provided by MDES. The partnership provides three e-WIN Access Points to Tunica County.
MDES launched e-WIN Access Points as a way to provide agency services in areas where no WIN Job Center is located.
WHEREAS, Oscar Price Jr. was selected on January 1, 1987 and served as a member of the Tunica County School District Board of Trustees; and,
WHEREAS, Oscar Price Jr. made a commitment to education which also included governing by setting education policies in the Tunica County School District for seventeen (17) years; and,
WHEREAS, As President of the Tunica County School Board, Oscar Price Jr. governed public education policy and witnessed severe education budget cuts, state and federal mandates, statewide accountability standards and other challenges; and,
Supervisors debate loan for softball complex, fire station
A decision to borrow $4 million was delayed by the Board of Supervisors following a discussion at their Oct. 7 meeting. Officials will not meet again until Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
Sam Keyes of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada PLLC, presented four resolutions for supervisors to consider. Two resolutions relating to Feuer Powertrain GmbH and Co., a recently announced industrial venture coming to the county, were approved. Tunica County will borrow approximately $850,000 to purchase 40 acres of land for the manufacturing company.
