Collison with train injures one
A 27 year old man with Tunica ties was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, Sept. 27 following a collision with a train.
At approximately 7:35 a.m., the Amtrak “City of New Orleans” train struck a vehicle driven by Will Spencer at Pritchard Road and Highway 3. Several members of Spencer’s family are Tunica County residents.
Board: Pull up your pants
The fashion trend of wearing baggy pants may be fine for the runway, but it’s not ok for the streets of Tunica, according to the Board of Aldermen.
Town officials unanimously approved an amendment to an ordinance on nudity at their meeting on Sept. 20.

Farmers expecting good harvest despite growing season snags
Mother Nature dished out her share of challenges for Tunica County farmers during the 2011 growing season. Rain or the lack thereof, heat and even wind, all contributed to what had been a questionable start and middle of the crop-growing season.
Still, despite this myriad of setbacks – and with the harvest now underway – many area growers and agricultural officials are optimistic about seeing end results better than they originally anticipated.
