Board learns of ups, downs


Tunica’s board of aldermen had good news and bad news waiting for them when they met on Oct. 4.
The good news was that the Town of Tunica will likely receive $438,000 in community development block grant funds.
Jeff Walters of the North Delta Planning and Development District said those funds were contingent on approval by various environmental agencies. Walters said that process generally takes four months and was underway.
“The Corps (of Engineers) is the only one left to get back, and I hope they will move quickly,” Walters said.
The CDBG will help rehab the Clayton Henderson Meadows lift station, the Cottonland Village lift station and cover other sewer work, Town Clerk Celia Boren said.
