Preacher’s path leads back to Commerce Boulevard
Pastor Evelyn Windum-Hubbard, lovingly called Preacher Hubbard by her congregation and the community, is an advocate for improving the lives of children, young adults, and seniors.
The first female pastor in Tunica County, she took her place behind the pulpit of Commerce Christian Church in 2000. Hubbard grew up in the house that was once next door. One of Hubbard’s earliest memories is of the 1955 tornado destroying the original church. A new building was resurrected shortly thereafter.
