Tennis pro is a champion both off and on the court
It only seems fitting that Donny Flowers works at One Champions Lane.
Probably best known to locals for his role as head tennis professional at Tunica National, Flowers is also a champion in the world of table tennis.
On June 23, he traveled to Nashville to compete in the Tennessee Senior Olympics, bringing home a gold medal. His win will send him to a national competition later this year.
Before the event, Flowers said he was excited to compete.
Tunica Balloon Bash returns Aug. 9-11
The second Tunica Balloon Bash will be held August 9-11, as hot air balloons and their pilots from across the country float into Tunica. At the Balloon Bash, attendees can take a tethered ride on a hot air balloon, view a nighttime balloon glow and watch a race of more than 50 hot air balloons.
The event is becoming one of the largest gatherings of hot air balloons and balloon pilots in the Mid-South. The Tunica Balloon Bash’s launch in 2012 built a foundation for the event to become one of the premier hot-air-ballooning events in the Southeast.

Golden Estates death under investigation
The death of 48 year old Darlene Clark, a resident of the Golden Estates Apartments in Tunica, is under investigation, after her body was discovered by firefighters responding to a call early Sunday morning.
County coroner Glenn Grant said the cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy. Grant said the Tunica County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
Tunica Fire Chief Scott Goff said his department responded to 1001 Antioch Street at about 2 a.m. on June 9. The 31-unit complex is home to 32 residents, almost all over 65 or disabled.
