Restaurant touts authentic Mexican food, groceries
In mid-February, Raquell Vasquez and her mother Juana Guerrero-Montes began a venture in Tunica that the mother-daughter team hopes will become a hot spot for locals and the area’s growing Hispanic population alike.
The business, La Frontera, is a combination market and taqueria that – while still in development – will provide patrons with a variety of ethnic-themed food items, as well as fresh Mexican cuisine.
Heritage area focuses on Delta
Memphis author Shelby Foote once claimed that one could see “a hundred years of history in 20 years in the Delta.”
A 1996 National Park Service symposium concluded that “much of what is profoundly American – what people love about America – has come from the Delta.”
“The cradle of American culture,” a land of mystique, home of the Blues and the birthplace of rock ‘n roll, inspiration to countless writers, artists and musicians...all these descriptions and more make the Delta a fascinating but often underappreciated part of the American story.
Mapping out the future
The Rosa Fort High School Career and College Fair, sponsored by the David Williams Jr. Career and Technical Center, brought juniors and seniors together with representatives from businesses, colleges and the U.S. Military.
Main Street to celebrate Great River Road Bike Trail
Cycling enthusiasts from across the Mid-South are expected to converge in Downtown Tunica in a few weeks as Tunica Main Street hosts a ribbon cutting and trail ride for Tunica’s leg of the Great River Road Bike Trail.
The event, which is slated to take place on Saturday, March 23, will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a 13-mile ride along the southern end of Tunica’s trail.
“It’s going to be held at 8:30 a.m. on March 23. We’ll have a ribbon cutting in Rivergate Park. It’ll be at the trail head sign there in the park across from the public restrooms,” said Tunica Main Street Executive Director Lynn Ryals.
