County: Keep it clean
It’s not spring, but county code enforcer Jewelie Brown hopes to encourage a clean-up effort by several property owners.
Brown presented a series of photographs and descriptions of homes in need of attention to the Board of Supervisors on Dec. 5. The public also offered comments.
Brown said one property in Cypress Village had raw sewage draining into the ditch. The owner claims it is coming from the washing machine, but Brown said it is on the surface.
Tunica’s future lies with audience beyond gaming
At first reading, the Tunica County Destination Development Plan produced by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP of Tampa, FL offers a rather pessimistic view of the future of local tourism.
But the 84-page study also outlines opportunities to recruit new businesses and attractions and re-imagine the use and scope of existing facilities.
PricewaterhouseCoopers analysts presented the report in June, following a kick-off luncheon in November 2010 and a near-seven month process of interviews with “stakeholders,” that is, local public officials, casino/resort management, and those responsible for marketing the destination.
Citizens ask board for action on alleged public nuisance
A group of citizens formally presented a petition asking the Town of Tunica for “action.”
The petition, signed by about 30 residents neighboring 1770 Irwin Avenue calls for the closing of the “apartments adjoining Mike Nolan’s residence so that the citizens can once again enjoy a safe and secure place in which to live.”
