Cookin with The Columns: Mardi Gras style
We went to the chili lunch that was a gift to the community from Good Shepherd Catholic Church this past Sunday after church. They had Mardi Gras decorations on the table and then we had guests come in later on in the afternoon that were headed to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. It made me start thinking about all that good food that we love in New Orleans. So when I was looking for a recipe to put in the paper, this one caught my eye. I have it in a cookbook that Annette Gibson’s family made a few years ago but it’s actually Sonia Gibson’s recipe. It makes me want to go home tonight and make gumbo although I probably won’t because it takes so long to make.
