Rise, fall of famed attorney captivates crowd
Author Curtis Wilkie shared the story behind the story revealed in his book The Fall of the House of Zeus to a large crowd on Friday, March 18 at the R.C. Irwin Library.
Wilkie told attendees that “Dick Scruggs was a friend of mine” who soon became the center of a federal investigation for bribery. The book details the events leading to Scruggs’ arrest and the aftermath and provides an indepth look at politics in the Magnolia State.
Wilkie said he wrote about the events as “accurately as he could” in order to allow the reader “to reach whatever conclusion they wish.”
“I had no ax to grind,” Wilkie said.
