Minister’s Moment: Wild Waves and Wondering Stars
Wild Waves and Wandering Stars
One of the most overlooked books in the Bible is Jude. Only twenty-five verses long, it is tied with Paul’s letter to Philemon as the third-shortest book (only John’s second and third letters are shorter). Yet in this short epistle there is much wisdom.
Jude spends most of his letter warning believers about nonbelievers within their ranks. These are people who, while purporting to be Christians, have as their aim the un-Christian task of leading believers away from the faith. They are “scoffers, following their ungodly passions,” and “worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.” Jude says they are responsible for divisions in the church.
