Minister’s Moment: Running the Whole Race
Running the Whole Race
In high school I wrote for the school newspaper. My “beat” was sports, and in my senior year I was appointed sports editor—a position I really enjoyed. The paper came out monthly, so we didn’t report up-to-the-minute sports news. We did, however, educate our readers about all the sports our school offered to its students.
One of those sports was track and field. One afternoon I attended a track meet in which my school was a participant. Not knowing much about the sport, I stood next to Mr. Kaufman, the track coach, and picked his brain. It was a good experience. I learned a lot, probably doubling my knowledge of track and field in a short time.
