Cookoff grows, gives to cause
Hundreds of friends and families gathered for the Nel-Win Campowners Association’s 4th annual Rib Cookoff under beautiful skies during Memorial Day weekend. This year’s contest, which included three new categories (Chicken Wings, Bloody Marys and Anything But) drew 28 teams to vie for cash and trophies. In a special show of compassion, every winner donated their winnings to the Madysen Acey Fund or Shriners Hospital.
“We want to thank everyone for coming out and joining us and please remember the veterans that have sacrificed for us as we celebrate our 4th annual contest. It’s great to see young and old having a good time; that is what this is all about!” said NWCOA Board member John May before announcing winners in the Chicken Wing, Bloody Mary, Anything But, and Rib categories. May stated that the voting was close in every event.
