Residents work to keep community beautiful
Keep America Beautiful-Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program, takes place annually from March 1 through May 31, involving an estimated 3 million volunteers and attendees. The countywide cleanup, headed by Chancery Clerk Susie White, was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in various locations including White Oak, Sears-Walker Subdivision, Old Subdivision, Hambrick, Kirby Estate and the New Subdivision along Beatline Road.
Organizations involved in the efforts are Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Delta –TCRC Units, Adolescent Opportunities Program, Tunica Mentoring Program, Tunica Teens in Action, Tunica County Youth Development Program and Tunica County 4-H Leadership.
These volunteers donated their time to clean, beautify and improve the Tunica County Community. Activities included beautifying parks and recreation areas, handling recycling collections, picking up litter and conducting educational programs and litter-free events.
