Granville Tate Sr.
Granville Tate, Sr., 82, fondly known as “Granny” or the “Colonel,” died Saturday, June 4, 2011 while surrounded by his loving family following a short bout with cancer. A requiem eucharist at 10:30 a.m. was held on Tuesday, June 7, followed by internment will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee
Mr. Tate was born on November 17, 1928, in Memphis, Tennessee, the youngest of five children, to Simpson and Adele Shepherd Tate. He grew up in Tunica and Hollywood, Mississippi, and shared wonderful stories about his childhood experiences growing up in the Mississippi Delta during the Depression years. The Mississippi Delta remained a special place in his heart throughout his life.
