Delta residents eligible for MRBI funding
A crucial cost-share program aimed to improve water quality of the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico has been extended to landowners in more Mississippi counties. Al Garner, Acting State Conservationist of the Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watershed Initiative (MRBI) will now also include DeSoto, Panola, Quitman, Tate and Tunica counties through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP).
This project in the Mississippi Delta will help landowners and producers to voluntarily implement conservation and management practices that prevent, control and trap nutrient runoff from agricultural land.
