Officials stock Moon Lake with bass
On May 18, 2010, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks fisheries biologists and hatchery workers stocked 125,000 juvenile largemouth bass in Moon Lake.
The fish were reared at MDWFP’s North Mississippi Fish Hatchery in Enid. The stocked fish should supplement the natural spawn of bass in Moon Lake and lead to a greater abundance of this prized sport fish and better bass fishing in the future.
Historically, bass populations have been low in Moon Lake, leading MDWFP to impose a limit of two bass per day. Biologist sampled Moon Lake in October of 2009 to determine the current fish community composition.
