Federal government issues warning to local nonprofits
Federal tax exempt status has been revoked for nine local organizations, according to a report issued by the Internal Revenue Service.
According to the IRS, Beaver Dam Fishing Club, Inc., Concerned Citizens for a Better Tunica County, Habitat for Humanity, Mississippi Confederated Child Care Nutrition Inc., Mississippi Youth Activities and Recreation Team Inc., Tunica Rotary Club, Tunica Cutoff Lake Development Association Inc., Tunica Organization of Women, Inc. and Veterans of Foreign Wars have failed to file an annual information return or notice with the agency for three consecutive years. Twenty-seven hundred organizations nationwide are facing a revoked tax exempt status.
