USDA: deadlines for crop disaster coverage approaching
Tunica County USDA Farm Service Agency Executive Director Aaron C Robinson urges producers who want to purchase coverage through the Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program to do so before the application closing date for the crop to be covered.
NAP provides financial assistance to eligible producers when natural disasters cause catastrophic loss of yield or prevented planting of a covered crop.
The application closing date for Christmas Trees, Crustaceans, Finfish (Catfish and Tilapia), Grass for Sod, Strawberries is Sept. 1, 2011. The closing date Forage for Hay or Grazing (with the exception of summer annuals such as Millet and Sudex planted for forage) , Bahia Seed, Oats, Onions, Wheat is Sept. 30.
