Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack again reminded African American farmers and ranchers that the period to file a claim in the Pigford II settlement will end May 11, 2012.
“In order to receive cash payment or loan forgiveness under the Pigford II settlement, African American farmers and ranchers who believe they qualify must file a claim during the 180-day claims period that began November 14, 2011, and will end May 11, 2012,” said Secretary Vilsack. “This claims process marks another milestone in USDA’s efforts to correct the wrongs of the past and ensure fair treatment to all current and future customers.”
