The town of Tunica was designated as Mississippi’s Purple Martin Capital by the Mississippi Legislature in March 1996. House Concurrent Resolution No. 127 was introduced by Rep. Clayton Henderson of Tunica. The resolution was passed by unanimous vote on March 25 and signed by the Senate on April 12.
