Strickland set to celebrate 100 years
Alberta Strickland will be celebrating her 100th birthday on July 3.
She was born on July 3, 1910 in Crenshaw, Miss. She spent her earlier adult years in Dubbs, Mississippi, before moving to Tunica.
She was married to Roosevelt Banks, who was the first black deputy sheriff of Tunica County. They spent many years together in Tunica County until he passed away in the late 1980’s.
A few years later, she married Charlie Strickland, who is now deceased.
