Water consumption falling in town
Turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth. Cutting back on the use of sprinklers. Running the dishwasher and washing machine only when they are full. There are hundreds of ways to conserve water, and town water customers must be taking note.
Operations manager Ellis Koonce III told the Board of Aldermen that since 2011, 37 percent less water is being used. In May of 2011, the town was pumping 953,000 gallons a day. One year later, figures show that the town is pumping only 600, 000 gallons a day.
