Drivers are being cautioned to take extra safety measures in the wake of two shooting deaths on area highways in 10 days, after investigators established a link between the two incidents.
In a press conference Monday in Hernando, DeSoto County District Attorney John Champion and sheriffs from Tunica, Tate, Panola, Coahoma and DeSoto counties announced that a multi-agency taskforce is working on evidence found at the scene of a May 8 homicide in Panola County and a similar murder in Tunica County on May 11.
“We don’t know anything concrete at this point,” Champion said. “We have determined that these homicides are possibly linked.
“Both subjects were on the side of the road,” Champion said in response to media questions.
