Area organization tops $2 million mark
The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi recently met its goal of raising $350,000 for the Endowment for the Future of Northwest Mississippi, which will be combined with an additional 500-percent match through combined challenge grants from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Maddox Foundation, earning $2.1 million for the endowment.
The Kellogg and Maddox Foundations began the challenge in 2009, giving CFNM a deadline of March 1, 2012, to meet the goal. The unrestricted endowment will allow CFNM to support charitable organizations and programs dedicated to improving the education and health of children and youth in Northwest Mississippi.
