Sylvester Herring Sr. was born April 6, 1931, in Tchula, Miss. to the late Percy Herring Sr. and Mary Ella Collier Herring.
He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Robinsonville. He was known to some as a strong father figure, to some as a friend and to many as a neighbor. He had no reservations about feeding the hungry or being friendly.
On June 18, 2012, God sent his angels to call him home. Funeral services were held at noon on June 23, 2012, at Fredonia MB Church, where Green Oliver serves as pastor. Dr. Henry Hargrow Jr. of Antioch M.B. Church officiated. Burial followed in Mullins Cemetery in Robinsonville.
