I’ve never met a parent who woke up in the morning and declared “I’m going to let this kid drive me crazy today.” Still, many parents end the day knowing that’s exactly what happened.
How many of you ever wondered about the huge role you play in helping your children to make sense of their world? While you may be baffled by your children’s behaviors, experts agree that children have figured out how to get what they want. When children misbehave and parents either yell, scream or spank, the child has just been rewarded. Negative attention is still attention. Misbehavior is the most powerful because it gets parents’ most immediate and most intense attention.
