Cookin with The Columns: Just like grandmother used to make
For the last couple of weeks I have given you recipes from the Tunica Woman’s Club cookbook from 1921. Last week the recipe called for lard. I’m assuming most of you are like me and never cook with lard but I am hoping you can substitute shortening for lard without too much change in the recipe because my sister sent me a recipe of my grandmother’s last week that calls for lard. A friend of hers recycles paper and everybody brings him stuff to recycle.
