Still betting on Tunica
The Tunica Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Tunica County Chamber of Commerce hosted a celebration of 20 years of gaming and tourism in Tunica on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Bluesville at the Horseshoe Casino. The event highlighted the economic progress Tunica and Tunica County has made throughout the last 20 years.
Since gaming was legalized in Mississippi in 1992, Tunica has grown from one of the poorest counties in the U.S. to a major contributor of tax dollars to the state. Gaming in Tunica County has generated $704 million in local tax revenue and 15,000 jobs.
