Program leads in teacher preparation
For 172 Mississippi educators, the University of Mississippi’s World Class Teaching Program is a means to become certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, an organization dedicated to fostering excellence in the classroom.
This year’s record enrollment makes the 10-year-old program the largest of its kind in Mississippi and accounts for more than 65 percent of Mississippi’s national board candidates. Upon passing national boards, Mississippi public school teachers receive a $6,000 salary bump funded by the state Legislature, plus other professional benefits.
