Home Cooking: Cooking for others satisfies Goff
At a very young age, Oxford native Margaret Goff was introduced to the kitchen while helping her grandmother cook jelly. That was when she was around the age of 4.
But by age 9, Goff was doing way more than canning jelly.
“My first experience in the kitchen where I cooked something was when I was 9,” Goff recalled as she put the finishing touches on a pot of soup boiling on her stovetop. “I made pork chops, lima beans, potato salad and cornbread. My Mama Annie – my maternal grandmother – was with me in the kitchen. She showed me what to do and let me do it on my own. As far as cooking in general, I was cooking meals for my family when I was 10.”
