Historic district proposed
Town officials will consider establishing a local historic district, following a report Tuesday by planning director Bob Barber.
Barber told the Board that the town’s existing preservation commission met recently, a requirement for Tunica’s Certified Local Government status with the state.
“You enacted a preservation ordinance in 2005 or 2006 and established a national historic district,” Barber explained.
That district is bounded on the south by Peabody Street, on the east by Highway 61, on the north by Mockingbird Street, and on the west by Kestevan Alley.
