Governor designates tourism week
Gov. Phil Bryant has officially proclaimed “Mississippi Travel and Tourism Week.”
Mississippi joins the rest of the nation in celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week, which runs May 4-12 this year. The event started in 1984 to help champion the power of travel and spread the word about tourism’s importance to America.
“Tourism is a $6 billion industry in Mississippi and an important part of changing the perception of our state around the world,” said Gov. Bryant. “As the state’s fourth-largest private sector employer and one of the largest export industries, travel and tourism has a significant impact on the economic health and growth of our state.”
