Penelope’s ride on the last chance highway
I watched Penelope for weeks in the fields between my house and town. Almost every day as I drove in to work I would see her in the distance along with her pack of male admirers. Even with her frail body and matted hair, she stood out in the crowd. At some point in her life she had been a beautiful dog. But the months of neglect and starvation had taken their toll on her body.
I wanted deperately to give Penelope another chance at life. So one Saturday morning a few months ago, I decided to make my move.
