Book Review: Pritchard’s Sailing to Alluvium plumbs depths of Delta myth
When NewSouth Books released John Pritchard’s first novel in 2005, my friend of long standing (his dad and mine were business partners and friends) asked the publisher of his hometown newspaper (me) to review it. And I, being younger and more intrepid, leapt in and added my poor effort to what became near universal acclaim.
By the time the follow-up to Junior Ray came out in 2008, I was thoroughly intimidated but again responded with my take on The Yazoo Blues, with its combination of local history and the further antics of its protagonist.
