By Christmas of 1944, Tunica County residents were buying war bonds for the sixth war loan campaign. Bing Crosby was on the radio urging all patriotic Americans to “Buy, buy, buy a bond. Even if you can’t be a soldier in the ranks, you can be the guy who buys the guns, the ships, the planes, and tanks.”
