Area organizations get boost from Tyson
An estimated 49 million Americans, including nearly 17 million children, are food insecure, according to a November USDA Economic Research Service report. This is an increase of 36 percent over the previous year. Tyson Foods delivered more than 31,000 pounds of food to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta, Mississippi Delta Council of Farm Workers Opportunities, Inc., and Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis, Tenn.
“I am pleased that Tyson Foods has decided to make this substantial food donation to nonprofit organizations in the Second Congressional District,” said Congressman Bennie Thompson. “This donation will help provide much needed nutrition to families throughout the Mississippi Delta. I look forward to working with Tyson Foods, the Mid-South Food Bank, and local nonprofit organizations to address nutritional deficiencies in our community.”
