Municipal League promotes Economic Development Act
JACKSON, Miss. - As the 2014 Legislative Session gets underway, the Mississippi Municipal League (MML) is, again, pushing for the Citizens for Economic Development Act (CEDA). CEDA would enable cities to impose a 1% sales tax increase for the funding of a capital project once it has been approved by at least 60% of the voters in a referendum. The project must be specified on the ballot, and the additional tax would end upon completion of the funding of the project. The announcement will be made on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. on the second floor Capitol rotunda.
