JACKSON, Friday, January 24, 2014 – We passed a youth concussion bill designed to protect student athletes who suffer blows to the head in contact sports.
House Bill 48 will establish guidelines to require youth athletes who suffer a concussion or reports one to be removed from a game or practice session and not participate again until a physician approves their return.
We held hearings where agencies presented their funding requests for the 2015 fiscal year.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 540 was read aloud in honor of former Major General Catherine Smith Lutz of Flora, Mississippi’s first female Air National Guard leader, who recently passed.
