Tunica’s Northern inks with Memphis
The University of Memphis placed a heavy emphasis on the defensive front as the Tigers announced last Wednesday a signing class which includes nine student-athletes who play either defensive line or linebacker positions. Memphis announced a group of 22 student-athletes who signed either National Letters of Intent or admission agreements. Ty Northern of Tunica was among Tiger commitments.
Northern is a graduate of Rosa Fort High School, where he was a standout on both sides of the football. He led in receiving yards during his junior year and was named the Player of the Week three times.
He went on to Northwest Community College and posted 65 tackles in 10 games.He had 42 assists and three tackles for a loss. He transferred to Pearl River Community College for his sophomore season and registered 53 tackles, including 40 solos. He had one interception and broke up five passes.
