Grant creates new program at Coahom
Oftentimes suicidal or depressed individuals are crying out for help. A new Depression/Suicide Awareness Program underway at Coahoma Community College is designed to ensure that their cries aren’t ignored and that they receive the help and resources that they need.
The program is made possible through a mini grant between the Morehouse School of Medicine and CCC and is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to perform work under the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health Project. The mini grant will cover specified expenses of up to $7,500 through June 30, 2014.
Renee’ Sanford, director of counseling services (Student Affairs), has been appointed as the project’s director, and committee members met Monday afternoon to begin the planning process.
