Locals hope to bring new jobs to county
At least two Tunica natives are making it their business to tackle the county’s 17.3 percent unemployment by opening businesses of their own this year.
Tunica County is home to one of the highest percentages of unemployed in the state, second only to Clay County, according to the Mississippi Department of Employment Securities’ January 2014 Labor Market Data Publication.
Beyond the challenges of hiring, two big factors in bringing jobs to Tunica are finding space to open a business and community support, both Derricos Jones and Dennis Hayes, Jr. said.
