On the Doorstep: Random Thoughts on May 5
My 61st birthday on May 5 – Cinco de Mayo – was spent, for the most part, at work, ending with a long county Board meeting. But that unpromising description belies all the special things that family and friends took the time to do to mark my day.
Several sent flowers, others sent Facebook messages, some called, others came by with gifts and cards, and one friend led a round of “Happy Birthday” at the end of the aforementioned meeting.
What could have been just another Monday turned into a good day. So, thank you, sweet friends, for remembering this old, gray-haired lady. I am trying to cherish the good days and memories and forget all the bad, like crime, wars, politics, and yes, angry words, rumors and accusations that are what modern life has become.
