Ralph Monroe Sharpe
Ralph Monroe Sharpe, 89, passed away Sunday, August 29, at his home south of Tunica.
Born on July 12, 1921 in Poinsett County, Arkansas, Mr. Sharpe established his agricultural aviation business in Tunica County in 1947. He was an innovator in his field, being among the first in this area to use such improvements as trained flaggers and satellite guidance. His airport was also the first public airport in Tunica County.
In 1949, National Geographic chose to picture Mr. Sharpe and his airplane as representatives of the cropdusting industry in the South.
