Vision, creativity is key to saving Delta
What may be the region’s biggest hope -- tightly focused dignity -- could be its biggest impediment to survival.
“The issue is small towns, the nature of small towns,” said Blake Wilson, president of the Mississippi Economic Council, said.
Much of the effort in the Delta, he said, is too tightly focused. People are asking, “How do we save Lambert, Sledge or Sumner?” when they should be asking, “How do we save Tallahatchie County, Quitman County, the Delta?”
