Entergy snakes in fence in resort area
While more than two-thirds of all power outages in the United States are weather-related, animals contacting wires are the second-biggest reason for electrical failure.
That’s proven true in Robinsonville, where snakes have caused outages twice this year at the town’s substation, cutting power to some 3,500 residential and commercial customers, including the local casinos.
In an effort to stop the slithering creatures, Entergy Mississippi, Inc. has installed a special interior fence inside of the substation’s main fence that’s specially designed to eliminate outages caused by snakes.
