State Superintendent Honored
Delta State University’s College of Education has named Mississippi State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tom Burnham its 2010-2011 Outstanding Alumnus.
Burnham received both the Doctor of Education and the Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Delta State University in Cleveland.
“Dr. Burnham epitomizes what all of us should aspire to accomplish as alumni of our respective programs—expertise in a chosen field and the vision and willingness to share both in an effort to promote positive change,” said Dr. Leslie Griffin, dean of Delta State’s College of Education. “In Dr. Burnham’s case, Mississippi public education has been the beneficiary, which means we all reap the benefits over time. His record of service and dedication truly exemplify what an individual can accomplish in a lifetime of service; his example gives new meaning to ‘going the distance.’”
