NWCC begins first phase of union project
Recently, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees awarded a bid for the renovation of the McLendon Student Union, the largest renovation project in the college’s history, at their November meeting to W.G. Yates and Sons of Memphis and Philadelphia.
The renovation will include construction of a second multi-purpose gymnasium to expand physical education, recreational and intramural offerings; two aerobic/dance facilities; meeting rooms for student clubs and organizations; an expanded bookstore; an open student computer lab with more than 80 terminals; new and expanded space for Student Support Services and the Math Support Lab; a new and expanded weight room for Athletics and an upgrade of the current gym for all students; and space for Central Duplicating and Campus Police relocation to the Union to improve convenience and safety for students.
