Aldermen set public hearing for well
The face of the game for the Town of Tunica’s ongoing water issues changed on Tuesday, Jan. 4, when the board received notice that some surprise money may be headed their way.
Mayor Chuck Cariker and engineer Ed Davis told the board that the town has been included on a list of municipalities eligible for principal forgiveness. In essence, just over $536,330 will be awarded to the town and will not have to be paid back, Davis explained. The funds will cover expenses associated with construction of a well. The town will get the rest of the money needed through the State Revolving Fund program. A total of $975,145 was requested.
