As part of God’s great plan, the book of life was opened on April 15, 1918, for George Washington Shannon Sr., born to the late Willie Shannon and Maggie Bush Shannon. He grew up in Tunica County.
He confessed his everlasting love, belief and faith in God at an early age. He was baptized at Scott’s Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.L. Gray.
He was united in holy matrimony with Evelyn Bates and later married Everline Reed Shannon on Nov. 13, 1960. They had four children.
