Health care costs ‘unsustainable’

With U.S. health care costs projected to be 25 percent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product by the year 2025, Tunica County health care administrator Gene Osborn says the pace of increases is clearly “not sustainable” and predicts that unless something is done to slow it, this will be “our ruin economically.”
Osborn said  the U.S. spent $2.2 trillion on health care in 2007, or an average of $7400 per person. Health care costs are already 10 percent of GDP and expected to climb as Baby Boomers continue to age.
